Outlook 2007 -user receives a  "Delivery Status Notification (Relay)" message when sending emails
I have a user using Outlook 2007 SP2 who receives a "Delivery Status Notification (Relay)" message when sending emails. If I use Outlook 2007 in safe mode they don't receive the message. The emails all go through without any issues but I can't figure out why this message is occurring. I have tried to go into the "Trust Center" and disable all add-ins which I was assuming what "safe mode" does but the user still receives this message when sending. Only running in Safe mode does it prevent this message. I have also tried to create a new Outlook profile on the machine (Control Panel - Mail icon) but the error still occurs in the new profile as well. This is in the body of the message: This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification. Your message has been successfully relayed to the following recipients, but the requested delivery status notifications may not be generated by the destination. Sierra Ridge Networks

The user must have requested a delivery receipt, and that request has got stuck. Try the simple method first - in Outlook go in to delivery recipients. If it enabled, disable it. If it is disabled, enable it. Then wait about 20 minutes. Restart Outlook and send a test message. If it was enabled and you disabled it, you shouldn't get the message. No need to do anything else. If it was disabled and you have enabled it, you should still get the message when sending. Now disable the feature. Again wait about 20 minutes and test again. That should stop the message from appearing. The above has the effect of overwriting the value in the mailbox. If that doesn't work, then it is going to be something more complex, but try the easy method first. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

Whom did the user send email to when he received the notification, Any recipient or a special recipient? If it is a special recipient. I think , I think it is more possible caused by the recipient side. You’d better contact the recipient side to fix the issue. If it is any recipient. Could you please enable message tracking on exchange server to find out where the notification come from?
